1. Preparation of base surface.
The base surface has to be quite compact
and spalling proof. It must neither be covered by plaster nor coated
by paint nor cause another problems. If we acknowledge this base
surface as capable for facing, it is possible to start with the
preparation for glue spreading.
The base surface has to be cleaned, degreased and dusted has to
removed in order to prevent rise of separating layer which
could cause
the falling of facing.
It is the best to penetrate the base surface with special penetrating
coat ensuring the above mentioned properties and preventing from
undue absorption of glue into the base surface.

2. Preparation of gluing.
a/ At first, choose a proper glue.
b/ Mixing the glue with water
in a vessel with sufficient volume using
a proper tool. The ratio of glue and water has to be
kept according to manufacturer specification. Leave
the
glue mixture to settle for several minutes in order to prevent
from its premature withering. The quantity of mixed glue should
be corresponding to ability and skill of workers.
c/ We prepare then the notched spatula with proper notches. Their
size for facings
IMIT® should be according to weight and size of used facing elements
8 up to 12 mm.
|
 |
|
3. Spreading of glue.
a/ The glue is spread by notchless
side of spatula on the penetrated base surface approx. 1 hour after
penetration in the layer corresponding to the size of chosen notching.
Care about the adequate size of surface area; in the case of too
large area, the glue can get dry (i.e. to make “skin”). Begin therefore
always with a smaller area.
b/ Pull then the notched side of spatula several times crosswise
over the spread glue on surface area; everything is now ready for
glueing of first facing elements.

4. Glueing of strip facings.
a/ The glueing of own facing elements
should be realized very sensitively i.e. neither with forcing nor
with hammering by rubber mallet. For setting of facing elements
and their perfect attachment to the glue, it is much better to
place them by uniform pushing to glue at simultaneous moving up
and down.
b/ At the use of corner elements, we start the glueing always just
from them. We can choose various kinds of bonds, however the most
simple bond results from the use of corner elements.
c/ The facings IMIT® can be glued either with the gaps or without
them. The package of 1 m2 in cardboard is
corresponding to the glueing with the gaps 10 up to 15 mm. For
glueing without gaps, it is however necessary to calculate with
the increase of appr. 10% at the consumption of facing elements.

5. Glueing of multidimension facings /Kombi, Kombi
plus/.
a/ The glueing of facing KOMBI is realized
with butt joints and the own jointing is therefore not necessary.
The contingently arisen facets should be only coloured with brush.
The facing elements have to be placed at their setting very precisely
and closely in order to prevent from undesirable glue pressing
out. Basic rule for composition of individual dimensions to interrupt
the arisen joint after max. 60 cm of its length has to be kept.
The facing is bound in the simple way with the utilization of dimensions
which are proper for the size of just faced area. So e.g. under
the windows or similar openings, we prefer to use the smaller dimensions
than a large one with cut out. On the contrary for larger areas,
it is preferable to use also larger dimensions. All dimensions
for the surface area of 1 m2 are packed in one cardboard.
We direct the cut out to the minimum striking places and it is
better to
make the cut out from the middle than to lose visually the facet.
b/ The facing KOMBI plus is glued with the gaps of width 10 mm. The using
of this gap width means the reaching of “decimal dimensions”. The own
glueing is realizing in the same way like at standard facing KOMBI.

6. Cut out - cutting of facings.
All facings IMIT can be shortened
and cut. The best way of cutting is made possible on circular saw
bench with the use of diamond-charged or black grinding wheel
for cutting of concrete and stone. At the small quantity of facing,
it is possible to use also the portable flexible drive grinding
machines for cutting.
The cutting by grinding wheel under water is prohibited!!!

7. Jointing of facings IMIT®
a/ The jointing is always enough demanding
as well as problematic matter and it is often rather depreciated.
It is necessary to realize, that the jointing has beside of visual
impression also other practic purposes. The correctly jointed facing
is colourfast, very plastic as well as ensured against the penetration
of water and it prevents also from settling of impurities in the
depressions. The facing realized in this way is the firmness of
future and that is why our firm decided to change the method of
jointing directly with glue for standard jointing method of EC
– countries with the use of special jointing material IMIT BUNT®
developed specially for our firm and our use with minimum quantity
of water. This jointing material don’t need to be spread in higher
layers and it is characterized by high adhesivity to the base,
elasticity and colourfastness. After dilution by minimum water
quantity, it is pressed like “sand” in the gaps and smoothed out
with small jointing spatula of thin sheet leant against the facing.
Dry method of jointing is advantageous, because it doesn’t cause
the pollution of facing and the joint can be cleaned after finished
jointing only with brush.
b/ The facings can be jointed also directly by the glue pressed
out at the setting of facing elements into the glue mixture spread
by notched spatula. This method is conditioned by correct consistency
of the glue which has to be neither dry nor too “live”. According
to our experience, it is purposeful to realize the spreading of
glue and following jointing bit by bit always on the area of max
1 m2. The jointing is realizing with the use of small flat brush,
the size of which is by approx. 1 up to 2 mm smaller than the width
of gap. At light press on this brush, we use it also for coating
of lateral sides or edges on facing elements. This brush should
be always in the gap nearly dry!!! This kind of jointing is realizing
only with the use of flexibile glueing materials.
NOTICE: It is always necessary to care at the mixing of glue about
the same ratio between glue and water to ensure the uniform colour
of rising gap. Our firm however doesn’t afford the warranty for
this kind of jointing.

8. Water repellency - impregnation.
The facings should be according to
our experience sprayed or painted by water repellent means closing
also the capillaries of facing and extending markantly its service
life. It means the prevention from infiltration of impurities flowing
down the wall into the capillaries of facing, the washability of
which is then better. Vapour permeability of facings is at use
of water repellent means recommended by our firm not affected.
The mentioned means don’t change the facing colour!!!

9. Notice.
a/ All recommendations and method are
based on our best experience. For the buildings with specific requirements,
we recommend the consultation of use method. On these assumptions,
we warrant for the correctness of these data in the framework of
our general conditions.
b/ Protect the facing from the rain at the realization of facing
or closely after its finishing. Intense rain at the glueing with
gaps can cause the rinsing of fresh glue and thus the pollution
of facing. We recommend therefore to cover the facings after finishing
of work by some plastic or other canvas.
c/ PAY ATTENTION at the glueing to outside temperatures, which
are always specified by the producers of individual glues. Pay
attention to minimum as well as to maximum outside temperatures.
10. In Explanation.
a/ We draw our attention to the fact,
that IMIT® products are manufactured by manual work and the tolerances
of their dimensions are therefore larger.
b/ We draw your attention to the troughout colouring of IMIT® products
are manufactured of very hard concrete produced at the ratio 1
: 2. This fact causes thus also higher brittleness of products,
especially of the thin ones like e.g. Bruch or Lícovka. The incorrect
transport, manipulation or even attachment can therefore cause
the damaging of facings. The contingently broken facing elements
can be utilized for cuts out.
